Jumping for joy over new bus service

Manly residents are hop, skip and jumping with the area’s vital free bus service now sponsored by NRMA Motoring & Services.

Director Geoff Toovey said NRMA was proud to help support the Hop, Skip & Jump bus service which offers residents and visitors to the area a way to get around without getting in their cars.

“The four-bus fleet provides close to 7,500 passenger journeys a week,” Mr Toovey said.

“That’s a lot of cars taken off the road and much less stress on the area’s local parking facilities.

“Commuters can use the bus service every day which certainly makes getting around easier and significantly reduces traffic congestion in the area.”

Passengers have the opportunity to offer a donation to use the buses, which travel around Manly, Little Manly, Fairy Bower, Fairlight, Balgowlah, Balgowlah Heights, Clontarf, Seaforth and Warringah Mall.

Manly mayor Jean Hay is a lifelong resident of the popular beachside suburb and said that the Hop, Skip & Jump buses were extremely popular with residents.

“By next June a million passenger journeys will have been made which clearly demonstrates the demand for such a service,” Cr Hay said.

“It’s good for commuters, it’s good for congestion and it’s good for the environment.”
